In early September 2007 we were contacted by Anthony Okello, a youth minister from Maseno, Kenya. He had stumbled upon the Wash for Life website and wanted to know if his group, Mountain Movers, could be a part of it. We assured him that he could and that we were very glad to have him. The first Wash for Life car wash of Kenya took place late September 07.

Mr. Okello told us that the Wash for Life has been an inspiration for him, and that he wants to work to spread it across Kenya, and then into neighboring countries as well. He, in turn, is an inspiration to us because of his enthusiam and dedication to his ministry. We thank God that he has brought our two groups together!

Mountain Movers works to give youth both spiritual and economic training to help them be effective members of their community. It also performs gospel music and is currently in the process of producing its first album.

 

• Wash for Life brings some much-needed positive attention to the work the crisis-pregnancy centers (CPCs) do, in reaching out to women -- and girls -- who may have no other support. CPCs tend to be full of unnoticed heroes -- brave women and the staff and volunteers who help them get what they need to mother their children.
